Welcome to Pleasant River Soap, an all-natural, vegan soap with NO artificial fragrances. We craft all-natural soaps for the whole family that are perfect for delicate skin!
Pleasant River Soap is all-natural…period. That was the whole idea that led to the creation of a soap without artificial fragrances, colors, preservatives, or animal products…a soap that feels silky-smooth on your skin because of naturally-occurring glycerin, that produces a rich, creamy lather, and that you can feel good about your whole family using.
At Pleasant River Soap Co., we use olive oil for its amazing moisturizing and healing properties, coconut oil for its lathering abilities, and palm oil for the hardness it lends to each bar. Also, each bar contains extra nutrients such as avocado, sweet almond, hemp seed, or kukui nut oil to make them even more moisturizing, and is scented with 100% pure essential oils. And finally, our soap is lightly preserved with vitamin E, which also nourishes and moisturizes the skin.
And, we’re proud to introduce our newest product, LIPS, a smooth, silky lip balm consisting of avocado oil, beeswax, shea butter, and essential oils. LIPS is just as beneficial to dry, cracked knuckles, elbows, heels, etc., so that’s why we, at Pleasant River Soap Co., love to say…”Rub it here, Rub it there, Rub it everywhere!”
There are no artificial ingredients in any of our soaps or lip balms, which are handcrafted in small batches, as we believe superior ingredients will produce superior products…we hope you will agree!

Mary—Head Soap Maker!
Meet Mary Phipps, the owner and founder of Pleasant River Soap Co. in Windham, Maine. It was Mary’s vision back in the winter of 2004 that led to the Pleasant River Soap Co. as it is today, with its full line of all-natural, glycerin-rich olive oil-based bar soaps, avocado oil based lip balm, and of course Mary’s Madness (What is Mary’s Madness, you ask? See the FAQ section for all you could possibly want to know and more!).
Mary is proud to announce that all of her body-care products are free! Free, that is, of artificial fragrances, colors, preservatives, and animal products. And, they are tested only on humans (voluntary test subjects, we promise!). Based on her belief that what you put on your body is as important as what you put in it, Mary realized that she wanted to create all-natural body-care products for her family to use, products that would be as gentle on the environment as they were on their skin. So, living on the Pleasant River, Pleasant River Soap Co. was born. Since then, the company has grown to offer 12 varieties of bar soap whose main ingredients are olive, coconut, and palm oils, and that are colored and scented with 100% pure essential plant oils, spices, and herbs.
